Doolen Library Reading Contest 2010 - 2011


Doolen Library is hosting two Reading Contest for all of Doolen students.   These contests are to encourage students to read more.   The first one would run from Sept 1st  through Dec 16th.   
The second one would run Jan 3rd through April 30th.


It is open to all Doolen students.  
All you have to do is read fiction chapter books
 longer than 59 pages that have not been made into a movie in the last 16 years. 
When you finish the book, complete and turn in a reading contest book report.       


You can also compete in the Reading Challenges and earn additional prizes.

Along the way, students who read will receive the following prizes:

·         A  laminated bookmark for their first book report

·         A fancy pencil for every 250 pages read except for 1000, 2000, 3000, and 4000 pages.

·         A set of colored pencils for 1000 pages

·          A personalized laminated book mark for reading 2000 pages

·         A ribbon book mark for reading 3000 pages

·         If they read 4000 pages or more they can receive a reading medal.   

·         All entrants receive certificates: top 5 places, star readers (over 2000 pages), honorable mentions (over 1000 pages) and participants under 1000 pages.

 

There will be a winner in each grade level for each contest.  The winners will receive “Initial” Wall hanging in  their choice of colors.  (A picture of a sample wall hanging is below.)

 

Students can pick up the reading contest report form in the library and turn it in there as well.
